Emma Sherman

14 years old - Berkshire, England

Emma contracted COVID-19 in March 2020. Her experience with the initial infection was brief, and she felt well again until May. Two months after her illness, Emma began to realize that a few of her symptoms were persistent, namely nausea, headaches, fatigue, and muscle aches.

In August, she woke up with extreme dizziness, which has not left her since. This symptom was especially hard for Emma to cope with, as she felt dizzy from the minute she woke up to the minute she went to bed, every single day. Long Covid has completely turned her life upside down.

Before falling ill, Emma was a very keen gymnast and loved going to training, practicing in her garden, and performing tricks on her trampoline.

Now, her day consists of very little, and she currently goes into school for about 2 and a half hours a day, which she is trying to increase as the months pass.

Emma hopes that speaking to some others going through similar experiences will help this all feel a bit more normal to her.
